When you have a lot of browser tabs open, it can be surprisingly hard to figure out which one is making noise, especially after reopening your browser and everything starts playing again.
The good news is that all major browsers give you a way to track this down. Tabs that are playing audio will show a small speaker icon next to the tab name. You can click that icon to mute the sound. This is often easier to spot if you’re using vertical tabs, since horizontal tabs can get crowded and hide those indicators.
Safari offers an extra shortcut. You’ll see a speaker icon on the right side of the address bar that lets you mute all audio at once, or Control-click it to see which tabs are playing sound. In Chrome, Brave, and Edge, look for the music note icon in the top-right corner. Clicking it opens playback controls so you can quickly pause or stop the audio.
