Good news if you’re a fan of Safari’s compact tab bar. The option, which saves vertical space by tucking the address bar into the current tab, disappeared in the early releases of macOS 26 Tahoe and iPadOS 26. Only Apple knows why it went missing (Liquid Glass?), but as of macOS 26.4 and iPadOS 26.4, it’s back.

To turn it on, go to Safari > Settings > Tabs on a Mac, or Settings > Apps > Safari on an iPad.
