Try macOS 26.2’s Edge Light for Low-Light Video Calls

Lighting for video calls is not always ideal, especially when working from a laptop in different environments. macOS 26.2 Tahoe introduces a helpful feature called Edge Light that can make a noticeable difference. It uses the outer edge of your Mac’s display to create a bright white frame that softly lights your face during a call, similar to an on-screen ring light. You can enable it from the green camera icon in the menu bar when your camera is active. On Macs 2024 and newer, it can even turn on automatically in low-light situations. You can also adjust the light’s width and color temperature, and a mouse-awareness setting lets the light fade back if your pointer moves toward the edge of the screen. It will not replace a proper lighting setup, but it can make a big improvement when you are taking calls in a dim room.
